Side Dishes in Mexican Cuisine

A food item accompanying the main course at a meal is known as a side dish. For instance: a meal with a main dish as meat could have a vegetable side dish such as a salad or a starch side dish with pasta, rice or bread. For Mexican food lovers, an ideal meal would be a big plate filled with an enchilada, a taco which is deep fried, a stuffed, pork filled burrito and refried beans and rice.

Some of the best Mexican Side dishes are:

How to Save Your Money When Eating Outside

The general public usually gets into the habit of saving by spending less. They begin to cut costs here and there. Being frugal is one thing, but being a miser with quality of life is another. The one section where most people do this is the eating category. Imagine forcing yourself not to eat the usual food everyday, all in the purpose of saving money. You do not want to take this too far because it can cause potential health problems. While this is a great idea to reduce spending, there are ways to go about this strategy. Why not keep your money and keep your health at the same time?

Realize that eating outside is expensive

No matter how cheap, it is always more expensive than eating at home. At this point, having a wife is an advantage. Cooking home-cooked meals are more affordable because of cheaper prices of raw ingredients.

Consider vegetarian dishes. Why is this? Usually, vegetables will cost much less than meat-based foods. With recent studies that applaud green foods (that contain less free radicals, compared to meat), this is another good news.

Do not order beverage or drinks

Restaurants will make the most profit this way and you still do not know it. Not until you get drunk! Carefully reject alcohol drinks and opt for water. Alcohol not only contains more calories but makes you tired right after.

Eat in a balanced way

No one suggests that you should eat like a prisoner in a jail. Get creative with your food selection. You could order grilled chicken or beef at 'McDonalds' instead of fried ones. You could inform the chefs exactly how you want your meals to be cooked. Even desserts and appetizers are fine, too. Just, do not go extreme when it comes to eating. Maintaining a balance is the key.

Great Vegetarian Recipes - For Meat That Tastes Like Meat But Isn't

I am not exaggerating when I tell you these three great vegetarian recipes will change your life!

Of the three recipes above, the last one - vegetarian ribs - is what I recommend to friends who can't cook to save their life. Vegetarian ribs is a very forgiving recipe. You can mess up many of the steps and end up with a mix that feels and looks like a huge mistake but once you've finished baking, you won't be able to stop smacking your lips in satisfaction.

Orange County California, a Veritable Vegetarian's Delight!

Craving a really good vegetarian-based meal? Having trouble getting anyone in your family or line-up of friends to join you in a meal? In Orange County California you can "have your cake and eat it too"! While I may not be a total vegan (a girl's gotta have a good BBQ'd rib sometimes), I do prefer eating a vegetarian meal most of the time. Problem is my family and friends think this type of cuisine is not something they wish to share with me! They think of soy based foods as something meant for me and me alone.

Fortunately, I have found mighty fine restaurants in our wonderful Southern California home that try very hard to cater to all concerned! So meat-eaters take a seat, even you will find something tasty in these fun places!

Mother's Market and Cafe-Mother's has a wonderful vegan menu, but since they also are a complete organic and health food market, the cafe serves up fish and chicken dishes as well. At least it was on the menu at the one I went to in Laguna Hills-which is one of the smaller units. Mother's has several locations throughout the county.

Rutabegorz-This restaurant has a warm place in my heart. Before it grew to the 3 locations it has today, it had just the one in Fullerton. Okay, this was in the '70's and I was but a young college student, but I was into healthy eating even then! Why I love Rutabegorz is the atmosphere is relaxed, the baked goods are made on the premises (low fat, low/non sugar and tasty too!), the menu eclectic and my husband doesn't mind the tuna and salad dishes. When I went there "way back when", my college dance buddies and I could feel good eating the whole wheat bagel with avocado, tomatoes and soy cheese. Wish they still had it on the menu! Besides Fullerton, they also have one in Orange and Tustin

Zinc's Cafe and Market-Laguna Beach. Great breakfasts. Terrific baked goods. Salads are wonderful. Some very interesting lunch choices. Menu is always changing, but the coffee is gourmet and smells wonderful.

Native Foods-the new kid in town, sort of speak. Located in Costa Mesa, this is turning into quite a wonderful destination spot for vegans. Semi-casual, upscale menu-they have some faux meat dishes that from what a couple of diners said-had someone ordered their meals for them without telling them what kind of restaurant this is, they would have never guessed that they weren't eating "the real thing".

Veggie and Tea House-This is just what it says, mainly a tea house that happens to serve vegetarian dishes. While this place is charming and the food quite nice, in all honesty, this is probably the least likely of all the recommended places that might pass muster with the meat eating crowd.

Other suggestions? Most Asian restaurants are quite vegan/vegetarian friendly! Jade Palace in Aliso Viejo will substitute tofu for any meat in any of their dishes.

So fellow vegetable lovers take heart, we can go out for a meal with our carnivore mates and we all can enjoy!
