Vegetarians Delight - Get the Nourishment You Need and the Taste You Deserve

Indeed, I suppose the hardest thing about eating a vegetarian diet is making sure you eat right, and get all the protein and other nourishment your body needs to survive. The uninformed vegetarian can actually do damage to their body, but the informed and knowledgeable vegetarian will have a healthy and energetic, lifestyle, with intellect and power to burn.

One of the trendiest people in Vegetarian Dishes I think is Alicia Silverstone. At first, I was like "yah, right, what's this lady going to tell me that I don't already know about healthy cooking, eating, and vegetarian dishes and recipes," and I think I prejudged her all wrong. You see, she appeared to me to be one of those San Francisco, or Westside LA TV cooking personalities for the stars. But, I had to find out for sure, so I bought her cook book, and whoooah! - I was sold, she knows her stuff, and the recipes totally rock.

Vegetarian Dishes

The name of her book is "The Kind Diet - A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet," by Alicia Silverstone, with a foreword by get this; Neal D. Barnard the famous cooking doctor. The book is published by Rodale, in New York, copyright 2009, and it's just over 400 pages. If you want to buy this book I can indeed recommend it, and you can find it online by searching the ISBN: 978-1-60529-644-9.

Now then, let me tell you about a killer, I mean a super tasty recipe that I made myself. It's on page 173 called; "Watercress, Beet, and Heirloom Tomato Salad" - seriously, to die for, and so easy to make even I couldn't botch this one. Look if you want to eat healthy, and like one of those skinny vegetarians, you should really try it. Once you preheat your oven to about 400-and a quarter degrees, you make you wrap, but you use fine sea salt, of the highest quality, a little pepper, olive oil, and a tad of lemon.

Holly Toledo, I mean this is really good. You aren't going to have a salad any better than this in a five-star over priced French Restaurant in New York City. Seriously, just follow the easy instructions, and toss the salad once you are done. Amazing, you simply have to try it. As a matter of fact, I've made myself hungry just writing this online article to tell you all about it. My mouth is already watering, just thinking about it.

Boston for Dining - Delight Your Taste Buds With the Best in the Northeast

Which major east coast city is home to the 2007 Best Northeast Chef? If you said New York City and that is your final answer, you just lost the game. If you said Boston, you win the prize. And the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef is just the beginning of what Boston has to delight your taste buds.

In the heart of fashionable Back Bay, in an 1880 townhouse, you will find sophisticated and modern New England-French cuisine, with an emphasis on artisanal and New England ingredients. At L'Espalier (30 Gloucester Street), you will also find Chef Frank McClelland, the 2007 James Beard Award Best Northeast Chef. Also in Back Bay, you'll find a specialist in classic steak house cuisine and an award-winning wine selection at Capital Grille (359 Newbury Street). And at Vox (755 Boylston Street), known for its martinis, Chef Eric Bogardus offers dishes like Woven Flounder or Ostrich Stroganoff on an American Bistro-style menu.

Seafood is a New England classic and part of Boston's history is its noted seafood. The Union Oyster House (41 Union Street), established in 1826, claims to be the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the USA. They claim you can find the best clam chowder in New England, along with fresh seafood. Reserve the booth John F. Kennedy favored while practicing law in his early days. Overlooking Boston Harbor, Anthony's Pier 4 (140 Northern Avenue) offers an exceptional dining experience with the freshest seafood and succulent Maine lobsters. At Atlantic Fish Co. (761 Boylston Street) the kitchen serves up raw bar classics like shrimp cocktail, iced Littleneck clams and Blue Point oysters. For a more upscale ambience, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant (34 Columbus Ave, Boston Park Plaza Hotel) is just the ticket in the Theatre District.

Boston's North End is famous for all things Italian, and the restaurants live up to the reputation. Cantina Italiana (346 Hanover Street) is a long-time favorite of locals and visitors alike. Open since 1931, Cantina Italiana is the oldest restaurant in the North End, and offers a warm and charming atmosphere with a relaxed dining experience. Ristorante Fiore (250 Hanover Street) offers authentic Italian cuisine in an elegant setting and the North End's only seasonal patio and rooftop dining.

If Sunday Brunch is your dish, Café Fleuri (250 Franklin Street, The Langham hotel) was voted one of Boston's best. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is just one of its specialties. It offers a brasserie-style dining experience, with an open kitchen and complete brick oven that allows diners a glimpse of culinary creativity firsthand. In addition to breakfast (voted "Best Power Breakfast"), lunch, and dinner seven days a week, Café Fleuri also offers a famous Saturday Chocolate Bar. Harvest (44 Brattle Street, Cambridge) offers another award-winning Sunday Brunch, as well as American cuisine showcasing the region's freshest ingredients and seasonal product. Harvest was voted Top New England Restaurant by the Zagat Survey. If you're packing kids, Bostonians recommend Toro (1704 Washington Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Kid-Friendly Brunch.

For a meal with a view, Top of the Hub (800 Boylston Street, Prudential Center, 52nd Floor) offers a 360-degree view of the city, plus live jazz and original American dishes with unique flavors.

No major city is without its friendly arguments over the best pizza and Boston is no exception. At Pizzeria Regina (11 Thacher Street), Bostonians have enjoyed tasty brick oven pizza for over 70 years. For specialty pizza, head to Croma (269 Newbury Street), where the special is in the combinations like Peking duck, scallions, and hoisin sauce, or bacon, sausage, mozzarella, and an egg, sunny-side up.

For casual dining, try Bukowski Tavern (50 Dalton Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Pub Grub. The burgers are big and messy, and the menu includes classic barbequed chicken tenders and the one and only White-Trash Cheese Dip. If you want your casual with a healthy twist, try B. Good (131 Dartmouth Street), where two childhood friends offers guilt-free burgers, fries, along with vegetarian dishes and salads.

Top off your Boston tastebud tour with a confection from Choco Choco House (83 Pembroke Street), voted Best of Boston 2007 Chocolate. Or indulge in one of Boston's favorite dishes, ice cream. Bostonians eat more ice cream per capita than anyone else in the USA, and when they want the best, it's Christina's (1255 Cambridge Street) with 40 rotating offerings, some created with ingredients from the spice shop next door.

If you are headed to Boston to experience the best in the northeast, CRSHotels.com has the perfect hotel for you. Stay at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers, with McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant onsite, or The Langham Boston, featuring Café Fleuri. Choose the Lenox Hotel Boston, the Hilton Boston Financial District, or the Best Western Adams Inn Boston.

Orange County California, a Veritable Vegetarian's Delight!

Craving a really good vegetarian-based meal? Having trouble getting anyone in your family or line-up of friends to join you in a meal? In Orange County California you can "have your cake and eat it too"! While I may not be a total vegan (a girl's gotta have a good BBQ'd rib sometimes), I do prefer eating a vegetarian meal most of the time. Problem is my family and friends think this type of cuisine is not something they wish to share with me! They think of soy based foods as something meant for me and me alone.

Fortunately, I have found mighty fine restaurants in our wonderful Southern California home that try very hard to cater to all concerned! So meat-eaters take a seat, even you will find something tasty in these fun places!

Mother's Market and Cafe-Mother's has a wonderful vegan menu, but since they also are a complete organic and health food market, the cafe serves up fish and chicken dishes as well. At least it was on the menu at the one I went to in Laguna Hills-which is one of the smaller units. Mother's has several locations throughout the county.

Rutabegorz-This restaurant has a warm place in my heart. Before it grew to the 3 locations it has today, it had just the one in Fullerton. Okay, this was in the '70's and I was but a young college student, but I was into healthy eating even then! Why I love Rutabegorz is the atmosphere is relaxed, the baked goods are made on the premises (low fat, low/non sugar and tasty too!), the menu eclectic and my husband doesn't mind the tuna and salad dishes. When I went there "way back when", my college dance buddies and I could feel good eating the whole wheat bagel with avocado, tomatoes and soy cheese. Wish they still had it on the menu! Besides Fullerton, they also have one in Orange and Tustin

Zinc's Cafe and Market-Laguna Beach. Great breakfasts. Terrific baked goods. Salads are wonderful. Some very interesting lunch choices. Menu is always changing, but the coffee is gourmet and smells wonderful.

Native Foods-the new kid in town, sort of speak. Located in Costa Mesa, this is turning into quite a wonderful destination spot for vegans. Semi-casual, upscale menu-they have some faux meat dishes that from what a couple of diners said-had someone ordered their meals for them without telling them what kind of restaurant this is, they would have never guessed that they weren't eating "the real thing".

Veggie and Tea House-This is just what it says, mainly a tea house that happens to serve vegetarian dishes. While this place is charming and the food quite nice, in all honesty, this is probably the least likely of all the recommended places that might pass muster with the meat eating crowd.

Other suggestions? Most Asian restaurants are quite vegan/vegetarian friendly! Jade Palace in Aliso Viejo will substitute tofu for any meat in any of their dishes.

So fellow vegetable lovers take heart, we can go out for a meal with our carnivore mates and we all can enjoy!
