Garlic Meets Alaska Scallops in a Delicious Dish

When cooking seafood, it's important to find a flavor that compliments the flavor of your fish or shellfish without overpowering it. You don't want to eat a salmon with a pepper flavor that makes the fish taste different. You also don't want to cook scallops in a fashion that will take away from the delicious, rich flavor they come with naturally. Pairing garlic with your Alaska scallops will add flavor without taking away from the already delicious flavor, and the recipe is easy to prepare.

The items you will need for your garlic scallops includes: one pound of Alaska scallops, one medium-sized and finely diced onion, about five cloves of chopped or crushed garlic, one tablespoon of olive oil, half a cup of pouring cream, four spring onions sliced on an angle, a splash of white wine and one tablespoon of finely chopped chives.

Start by frying the garlic and onion in a hot pan with oil for about two minutes on medium heat. You do not want to allow the onion to change colors, but you do want it to soak in the garlic and oil. Add the Alaska scallops to the onion and oil and lightly cook each side for 20 seconds. Remove the scallops from the pan after you have cooked each side for 20 seconds. Turn the heat up from medium to medium high and add a splash of white wine. Let the wine reduce for about one minute and then add the pouring cream and reduce until your sauce is think enough to coat the pan.

Once your sauce is thick enough, add the scallops and spring onions to the sauce and stir it around for about one minute. The final step before eating is to place your delicious garlic Alaska scallops on some rice pilaf, pour the sauce over the dish and add a little garnish with the chives. You'll be able to serve about four to six people with the above measurements and quantities - depending on how hungry everyone is. Though you will probably find that everyone wants seconds of your delicious, flavorful garlic Alaska scallops.
