Using Herbs and Spices to Dress Up Vegetarian Dishes

Organic herbs, organic spices as well as organic teas are very popular now. Organic crops are grown without using chemical pesticides and fertilizers, often on small farms, preserving the entire flavor that you expect from herbs, spices and teas. The use of culinary organic herbs and spices helps cooks to achieve the height of flavor and taste, and as such are appreciated by individuals who prepare vegetarian dishes. There are a plethora of organic herbs, many of which can be purchased as bulk herbs, and organic spices that can be used to enhance the taste of many delectable vegetarian dishes.

Stuffed peppers are a wonderful vegetarian dish than even non-vegetarians will enjoy. They can be prepared with red or green bell peppers, or Italian frying peppers, or any number of South American and Mexican hot pepper varieties. Cheese, which can be soy or milk melting cheese, is combined with organic spices such as cayenne and black pepper, as well as organic herbs such as thyme or oregano, and this mixture is used as a stuffing for the peppers. Once they are filled, the peppers may be baked in an oven until they are tender.

Vegetarian Dishes

Potato pancakes are another great vegetarian dish that works well as a first course in a more elaborate dinner or as a light main course when served with a creamy condiment sauce made of yogurt, good bread, salad and wine. When you are using fresh potatoes, the potato pancakes need little seasoning to bring out their best flavor. You could combine grated boiled potatoes with oregano, dried onion, salt and pepper, mix in a little flour, egg and bread crumbs, and then fry up the pancakes in a bit of high heat point oil, such as canola.

Many cooks of vegetarian dishes like to purchase bulk herbs, and this makes sense for many reasons. Serious home cooks will use herbs and spices on a regular basis, and so you will want to always have your favorites that you rely upon to turn out great tasting meals readily at hand. Bulk herbs may also be less expensive than herbs sold in tiny individual containers. Herbs can lose their potency over time, so make sure to only keep on hand what you are reasonably sure you can use in six months or so.

Organic teas make a super drink to have with a vegetarian meal. Organic teas, including fair trade tea, are appropriate any time of day or night, and offer subtle flavors that will combine well with vegetarian cuisine that you enhance with premium herbs and spices.
