India is the largest republican that houses the most vegetarians than any other country in the world. Being a cosmopolitan country due to the number of invasions it suffered, there are many religious sects. Fruitarianism is another category of vegetarians where only fruits in correct quantity are consumed to get all the required strength. They will not eat vegetables or non-vegetarian dishes and will survive only on fruits. A survey conducted shows that they stay as healthy as any other vegetarian or non-vegetarian and are able to regulate their weight.

Vegetarian diets are found to keep the body weight in check and steer away from heart diseases. Eating raw vegetables is known to procure maximum vitamins as cooking washes away a few of the vitamins. Non-vegetarians are found to be more prone to cancer of the liver, lung, oesophagus, colon among others. Hence going veg means enjoying a longer and healthier life. No doubt vegetarianism in India is increasing.
